Owned and operated by Glenn C. Carballo, DIVEWORX was recently established last March 11, 2006, fulfilling his long-time dream of one day having a dive shop he could call his own. Located at #333 North Road, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines, it offers the following services/courses:

1. PADI dive courses
2. Dive tours
3. Snorkeling trips
4. Retail of dive equipment
5. Other activities like caving, trekking, trips to twin lakes, and others

Born and raised in Dumaguete City, 36-year old Glenn completed his college Business Degree at St. Paul University.  He began with an avid interest in photography, took underwater photos 4 years ago and specialized in macro photography.  A particular desire to capture the underwater world with his digital camera led him to the new realm of diving itself, where he discovered his real niche.

Glenn has been married for more than 14 years to his wife, Catherine Leonardo, a devout Yoga instructor for two years and ongoing.  They are parents to John Thomas, 14 years old, and 4-year old Sofia.

Glenn started diving in the year 1995 when he was in Saudi Arabia.  At that time, he worked there as a key account specialist with the Gandour Al Jazira, a chocolate company, and diving was simply his hobby. Then he came back to the Philippines and discovered the beauty of the island of Negros Oriental, and of the neighboring isles.

By the year 1998, he was back in his hometown to settle for good. Glenn had finally decided to take his Instructor diving course, and he was successful in this endeavor. After he became an instructor, he was connected with one of the resorts in the town of Dauin, Negros Oriental, for 6 years. There, he spent his full time teaching diving courses and guiding dive tours, and he had the opportunity to dive with famous photographers from all over the world, as well as personalities from the social scene. He was in high and constant demand by the guests, who frequently requested his services as a professional photographer due to his clear, perceptive eye which magnified all that he saw through the camera’s lens.

Never one to rest on his laurels, he immediately hooked up with different resorts in the region within and surrounding Negros Oriental, and particularly familiarized himself with the varying divesites  around Bohol, Sumilon, Siquijor and Apo Islands. After steady, constant work for nearly 10 years in the region, he has, to date, gained almost 4500 dives in the area.

Armed with ten years’ experience and an unwavering passion for his craft, Glenn finally decided to venture out on his own and put up DIVEWORX, an independent shop specializing in dive tours and dive courses.

His past ties with local beach resorts and vacation havens such as Private Resort in Dauin, Negros Oriental, form the nucleus around which his knowledge and experience are built. Thus, not only is DIVEWORX a service stop, it also holds merchandise ranging from world class diving equipment to novelty gift items. At the same time, it plays host, serving as a hotspot for diving enthusiasts and hobbyists alike in a quaint and cozy coffee shop-cum-bistro.
